Dr. V. L. McKee and Rev. Darwin Scott officiated. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Hampton, a native of Hopkins County, died in Panola General Hospital Saturday. He was a retired merchant.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of Carthage; a son, Dr. Herman Hampton of Amarillo.
Also, three brothers, Tom L. Hampton and Robert S. Hampton, both of Lufkin, Col. Luther L. Hampton of Omaha, Neb.; five sisters, Mrs. [Hollie?] Tucker, Mrs. Hazel Modisette, Mrs. Lucille Hays, all of Houston; Mrs. Nell Hinkle of Pasadena, and Mrs. Maureen [Arilea?] of Lufkin.
Pallbearers were Dr. DuBose Daniel, J. B. Minter, G. A. Minter, Larry Knight, B. B. Pippen, J. T. Wright, Reed Forsyth and Edd Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hays, Jerry Smith, Dr. Don Johnson, James Scott, Leon Hampton, and Burl Kirkland.
