Edith Pearl Corder Davis, 92, died Sunday (Sept. 7, 2008). She was a resident of Elm Park Estates in Roanoke, Va. She was the wife of the late George Davis of Worthington. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Worthington Corder and Agnes Dora Will Corder of Big Isaac, Doddridge County. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmie Lee Davis of Shinnston and daughter, Pattie Jean Cater of Greensburg, Pa. Edith is survived by her son, Jack L. Davis of Roanoke; her daughter, Judith Leydon of Chapmanville; and eight grandchildren, John Davis of Rocky Mount, Va., Thomas Davis of Asheville, N.C., Carla Kuhlman of Moontownship, Pa., David Cater of Altlanta, Ga., Sheri Sauro of Morgantown, Shannon Beckwith of Poquoson, Va., Lee Ann von Egmond of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Sabrina Jo Plachta of Rachel. Edith also is survived by her five great-grandchildren, Danielle and Nicholas Sauro of Morgantown, Amy and Jill Kuhlman of Moontownship, Pa. and Krista Beckwith of Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Harmer Funeral Home in Shinnston. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
