Son of Thomas Flewellen and Maria Drake. Served as a Private in Company K, 3rd Regiment Texas Cavalry, saw action at
many engagements and was wounded at Murfreesborough and captured. After the
war he received his medical training in New Orleans, graduating in 1880. He was married 1st to Ophelia Graham and 2nd to Mary Elizabeth Hill. Father of ten children.
By 1st Ophelia: Emma and Lizzie; By 2nd Mary: Lucy, Wilbur, Hugh, Nola, Victor, Fred, Lonnie, and Mary. (Lizzie & Lucy's burials have not been located.)
