Interment was in the Green Forest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cole Schafer, Phillip J. Schafer, Scott Blair, Steve Sheets, Wes Alterauge and Bobby McWilliams. Honorary pallbearers were Tobey Decker, Milford Blair and Joe Perry.
Mr. Schafer was born July 22, 1923 in Darien to Henry and Daisy (Dunhum) Schafer. He married Beatrice "Bea" Holland in January 1943. They were the parents of two sons. Later he married Marilyn Chastain March 21, 1991. Mr. Schafer died September 7, 2008 at the age of 85 years, one month and 16 days.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Schafer, Salem; sons, John Schafer and wife, Barbara, Salem; and Mike Schafer, Cameron; one sister, Nellie Klipfel, Colorado state; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife; three sisters, Dorothy Haage, Vera Shelton and Lillian Darrow.
Frank Schafer was a wonderful person who was always looking for a place to dance. Later in life when Frank found the Lord he always the first to share his faith.
