BIO
Gertrude Jones was born in Macon Co., Tennesse to Rev George Washington Jones Sr. and his 2nd wife. Gertrude Married James Marion "Jack" Sanders In Macon Co.,Tennessee (1905) She and James moved from Macon Co., Tennessee, in the year 1915,to Pottsboro, Grayson Co., Texas. Gertrude (Jones)Sanders and family took trains to Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas, where her husband became employed by local farmers. By the account of my great Aunt, Verna Huff, Gertrudes half sister Biance Jones, with her husband "doc" and family traveled with them. They all moved in together in one house.About year 1918, Gertrudes half brother, Columbus Pinkley "Lum" Jones ( his 2nd wife and lots of children) moved down and joined them. About a year later, Gertrudes brother, John Thomas Jones came down to live.
James Marion Sanders shows up in 1920 CensusSeries T625 Roll 1808 Page 226 at age 35 in Pottsboro Texas(Grayson Co.).He later shows up (about 1925) working (at a Lumber yard) and living in Muleshoe, Red River Co., TX. Before 1930, James relocates to Ft. Cobb, Caddo Co., Oklahoma, in which he starts a business ( groceries and gasoline). Shortly aterwards, James moves to Cyril, Oklahoma (Caddo Co.), where he stayed the rest of his life.
Gertrude was a heavy, pleasant woman that was very religios. I understand she was always singing hyms and making clothes to cover the women on her husbands Ridgid Calendar. She passed away from a weight loss diet about 2 years before her husband died. She was buied at Cement, Caddo Co., Oklahoma. The gravestone show her birth 10 years wrong.
