Last rites will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stegall Funeral home for Mrs. Mary Alice Ray, 76 years old, widow of Frank Ray and mother of Harry Ray who died in action in the World war. Mrs. Ray died Thursday night at her home, 1914 East Main street after an extended illness. Rev. Irvin Stegall will officiate and burial will be at Earlham cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral hom any time.
Mrs. Ray was a Gold Star Mother and was widely known. The local American Legion organization was named the Harry Ray post after her son.
She is survived by a son, Herbert Ray, former chief of Richmond police; four daughters, Mrs. Tennie Matthews of this city, Mrs. Charles Hazlett of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Albert Smith of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Howard Holtz of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Holtcamp of Richmond, and two grandchildren, Ray Matthews and Mrs. Verle White, both of this city.
