John Percy Cole was born March 29, 1870, in Waxahatchie, Ellis County, Texas to John B. Cole and Elizabeth Barksdale Anderson. I found no physical description of him. John married Lizzie Bell Polk in about 1893. According to records on Ancestry, they had thirteen children. John was a stock farmer in Pride, Dawson County Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a LOYALTY RANGER on June 17, 1918 thru February 19, 1919. LOYALTY RANGERS worked under cover as State Secret Service under the Hobby Loyalty Act of 1918. No one knew what these men were doing, but it was a dangerous job. He had been a farmer in Hill County, Texas. In 1930, he was the manager of an oil company in Levelland, Hockley County, Texas. John Percy Cole died March 10, 1942, in Lubback County, Texas. He was buried in the Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas.
