Funeral services for James "Jimmy" Ukele, 86, of Brownwood, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Christ Chapel Church with L.R. Blackstock officiating. Interment followed in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Netherton Funeral Home.

He passed away Wednesday evening at his home.

Jimmy was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Olie, Louisiana. He had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 23 years, and formerly lived in Fort Worth. He had worked in construction, and was also a minister and a member of Christ Chapel Church.

Jimmy married Hazel Dudley Cooley on April 1, 1993, in Brownwood.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Ukele of Brownwood; three sons, Allen Ukele of Carthridge, Tenn., David Ukele of Fort Worth and Michael Ukele of Fort Worth; a daughter, Charline Clark of Carthridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Nub Martin of Louisiana, and Ralph Martin of Louisiana; a sister, Verla Mae Devoe of Burleson; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Calvin Ukele.
