Spangler, William E.

Age 88 of Manteno, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born April 6, 1920 in Manhattan, IL, William was a son of the late Henry and Lillian Case-Spangler. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 26, 1943. William was employed by the City of Harvey, where he worked as a supervisor in the water and sewer department until his retirement.

Survivors include his daughter, Shelley Sokol of Alsip; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Volek of Frankfort; and one step-sister, Mary (Ken) Dolle of Wisconsin.

William was preceded by his parents; wife, Ruth; one son, James William; four brothers, Samuel, Joseph, Vernon and Robert; and one step-brother, Amos "Buddy" Spooner.

Graveside services will be held TODAY: Friday, September 5, 2008 at 12:30PM in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Friends and family who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery Welcome Center by 12:15PM. REEVES FUNERAL HOME
