Emeline and Harrison were long-time residents of Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, Illinois. She died at the home of her daughter, Florence (Parker) Wilke, in LaHarpe Township.~The Quill, page 8
Tuesday, April 3, 1923

Mrs. Emeline Parker.

Emeline Beckwith was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on April 27, 1836, where her girlhood days were spent, later coming to Illinois with her parents.

March 2, 1856, she was united in marriage to Harrison Perker making her home in the vicinity of LaCrosse, Ill. To this union were born six children, one dying in infancy. Mrs. Alice Pope and Mrs. Damietta Yeager [sic] are also deceased. The husband preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1901. Those left to mourn her death are Monroe Parker, of LaHarpe vicinity; Mrs. Emma Anderson, of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Florence Wilke of LaHarpe vicinity, with whom she has made her home the past 17 years.

She was one of a family of eleven children. They have now all gone to rest but one sister Mrs. Mary Moss, of Blandinsville [Township]. There are ten grand-children [sic] and three great-grand-children [sic].

Emeline Parker united with the Christain [sic] Church of LaHarpe in the year 1905, where she remained true until her death, being worker for it to the best of her ability and physical strength. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, to speak a kind, comforting word to those in sorrow, and desirous of constantly toiling and planning for the welfare and happiness of relatives and those of the community. Even though great was her desire in her last seven weeks of illness, to regain her usual good health with which God had blessed her, she shore her suffering bravely, never complaining for if it was God's will to take her home all was well with her.

She passed away at 8:20 p. m., March 27, 1923, aged 86 years and 11 months.

[11 stanza poem]

Funeral services were held at the LaHarpe Christain [sic] church, Friday afternoon at 1:30 p. m., Dr. Paul E. Ewing officiation [sic]. Interment in LaHarpe cemetery.
