A funeral service for Betty Mae Carpenter - Goodin, 82, of Dixon, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dixon United Methodist Church, Dixon.
The Rev. Catharine Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Silveyville Cemetery, Dixon.
Mrs. Carpenter-Goodin died April 14, 2005, at her home in Dixon, surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Born March 3, 1923, in Sacramento, she was a lifelong resident in Dixon. She had been in the trucking business with her husband, Douglas, for many years. It was known as Doug Goodin Trucking. She was a direct descendant and an owner of the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon, a family-owned business founded in 1859 by Milton Carpenter and run by three generations thereafter. After being sold in 1972, she continued to work in the capacity of funeral director/office manager until her retirement in September 1989.
Mrs. Carpenter-Goodin is survived by her daughters, Cherie Sue Fanning of Dixon, Sue-San Jane Lambright of Vacaville, Barbara Douglas Pinaglia of Dixon, and Bettina Mae Goodin of Dixon; son, Dyrk Burnell Goodin of Sacramento; sister, Susan Jane Webb of Dixon; grandchildren, Brandwyn Elizabeth Hensley of Dixon, Kirstyn Carrie Hairston of Dixon, and Jessica Lorraine Arroyo of Antelope; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Burnell Goodin, on March 5, 1985.
