Eleanor Marie Dworaczyk Abbott, resident of Pearland, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 8 days.
She was born in Wilson County on Nov. 28, 1923 to Thomas Dworaczyk and Susie Respondek Dworaczyk, both of Floresville.
Eleanor graduated from St. Teresa's Academy in San Antonio. She married her lifetime partner, Hubert V. Abbott, on June 12, 1941, just prior to his leaving to serve in the Pacific during World War II. Eleanor stayed in Texas and repaired aircraft instruments and electrical systems at Kelly Field. In the mid 1960's, she was the first woman mail carrier in Richmond, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mary Anne Abbott, buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville and her brother, Ivan Dworaczyk, of Floresville.
Eleanor was a loving mother to her two surviving children; son, Dr. Larry Wayne Abbott and wife Linda, of Friendswood and daughter, Sally Louise Abbott-Hicks and husband Lloyd of Deer Park. She is also survived and missed by her grandchildren; Jennifer Abbott, Kathleen Abbott, Amber Hicks, Brandon Hicks, and Joshua Hicks.
Visitation began at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, with a rosary recited in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel at 7:30 p.m. by Madeline Polasek.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with Father Josef Musiol, S.D.S., as celebrant.
Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.
