Guy V. and J. Wyvonne Robinson passed through the gates of heaven, hand in hand, Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, resulting from a tragic traffic accident in Plainview.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at College Hill Church of Christ. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery, Azle. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at College Hill church of Christ.
Guy was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Springtown to Andrew Melvin and Lesca Cockburn Robinson. He was the third of four children, Owen, Earlene and Wayne, growing up in Azle on a farm. Wyvonne was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Fort Worth to Brady and Bertie Casey Willis. She was the oldest and had two brothers, Kenneth and Delbert. She had many treasured memories of time spent in Decatur with "the cousins."
Guy and Wyvonne were high school sweethearts, graduating from Azle High School where Guy played basketball and Wyvonne was a yell leader. They were married April 4, 1947, making their homes in Jacksboro, Weatherford, and for the last 40 years in Haltom City. They were blessed with two sons, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Guy retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T after more than 40 years of service. Wyvonne worked for the Credit Bureau in Weatherford and First Bank in Saginaw.
Their greatest love was for God and the church. They were members of College Hill Church of Christ for 40 years, and were former members of South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford, and Jacksboro Church of Christ, where Guy was a deacon.
Guy loved woodworking, often making furniture and knickknacks for the family. He also loved playing golf and had a large golf collection. He had just finished making one of the bedrooms into a little golf museum. Wyvonne, the ultimate homemaker, loved to cook and bake, always providing a meal or dish for the family, friends and those in need. She also loved painting and craft making. Together they enjoyed traveling, visiting historic sites, golf courses and restaurants across all of the lower 48 states.
Their love for each other was evident in every aspect. They were inseparable; seldom did you ever see one without the other. They will be greatly missed by everyone who knew them and will be remembered for their love for God and for each other.
Guy and Wyvonne were preceded in death by their son, Robert C. Robinson; Guy's sister, Earlene Grubis; and Wyvonne's brothers, Kenneth and Delbert Willis.
Survivors: Son, Randy D. Robinson; Robert's wife, Linda; granddaughters, Carolyn Billings and husband, Greg, and Lauren Robinson; grandsons, Clint D. Robinson and wife, Crissy, and Brian M. Robinson; mother of Lauren and Brian, Nancy Robinson; great-grandchildren, Reese and Blane Billings; brother-in-law, Thurman Grubis; and brothers, Owen Robinson and Wayne Robinson and wife, Winnie.
