Markle W.R. "Mick" Stanton, 91, Cumberland, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 7, 1914, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late James Urban Stanton and Anna Alice (Gnagy) Stanton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Delia (Peters) Stanton, March 29, 1997. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A United States Naval veteran of World War II, he retired from the Swift Company and also Wilson and Pugh. He was a member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion.
He is survived by one step-grandson, James Edward Cramer, Palmetto, Fla.; one nephew, James R. Stanton, Ewing, N.J.; and one niece, Joyce L. Stanton, Catonsville.
A graveside service will be conducted at Greenmount Cemetery on Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Dan Agnew officiating.
Interment will be held at Greenmount Cemetery.
