He was born March 30, 1912, in Wirt County, W.Va., the son of Charles A. and Isabelle Province Emerick. He married Grace Lockhart on Sept. 30, 1933, in West Virginia; she preceded him in death in 1999. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Burley, in 2001; a sister; and five brothers.
Frank worked as a streetcar driver for the city of Parkersburg and then retired in 1977 as a mechanic for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. He was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church. Frank was also a member and past worshipful master of the Parkersburg Lodge 169 AF&AM. He loved to fish and was a baseball fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves.
Surviving are his two granddaughters, Dana (husband, Brian) McDonald of Springfield and Denise (husband, Travis) Savage of Loami; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Road, where visitation will begin with Masonic services conducted by Springfield Lodge 4 AF&AM at 4 p.m. and visitation continuing until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008. Funeral services will be there at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, with the Rev. Dr. John Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Laurel United Methodist Church.
