She was born June 30, 1928, in MacFarlan, W.Va., a daughter of the late John W. and Grace Deem Clark. Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Harrisville High School and the owner and operator of Del-Mill Wood Products in Little Hocking for the past 38 years. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where she was very active with the choir, mission work and the homebound ministry. She was a member of United Methodist Women, CCMH Lifetime Partners, Eastern Star Chapter 541 and the American Legion Auxiliary 495. Evelyn had been both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout troop leader.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Smith and husband, Jeffrey, of Belpre; her son, Larry R. Deem and wife, Jane, of Belpre; a sister, Mary Haught of Ritchie County, W.Va.; a brother, Virgil Clark of Frazeysburg, Ohio; three grandchildren, Steven Deem and wife, Elizabeth, Lori Smith Collins and Westley Smith; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kaleb, Aaron, Kayle and Bryce; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert B. Deem; one sister; and seven brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre, with the Rev. David Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
