SMITH, BEULAH AGNES ARNOLD "MA BOOTS"

A homemaker and lifelong resident of Walker, she died at 3:05 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was 86 and a native of Denham Springs. Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation at the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Freddie Arnold. Burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Benton and Carol Lejeune; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Smith; a sister, Lillian Hebert of Plaquemine; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jay and Debbie Smith, Mark and Tina Benton, Jodi Benton, Todd and Jovita Lejeune and Joelle Lejeune; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Peyton Lejeune, Reyna Lejeune and Dakota Lejeune; three stepgrandchildren, Tisha White, Angel Perkins and Nickie Derveloy. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. "Punk" Smith; parents, James Fred and Alice Lula Shaffett Arnold; grandson, Joe Lejeune; three sisters, Daisy Murphy, Eula Peyton and Wilma Cronan; and four brothers, Jimmy, Ameal, Louis and H.J. Arnold. Pallbearers will be John Cronan, Larry Cronan, Mark Benton, Joseph Cronan, J.E. Arnold and Ray Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Maurice Nassar, Donald Arnold and Lloyd Hebert. He was a member of Eden Baptist Church. Family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Maurice Nassar for his many years of patience and kindness and to the staffs of Ollie Steele Burden Manor and Flannery Oaks Guest House.
