Margaret's parents and family moved from Virginia to Walnut Township, Fairfield County, Ohio in the 1820s.The Allebaughs lived there until the 1840's and then moved to the neighboring county of Perry and lived in Thorn Township. Margaret married George W Bower in 1845 and they had three children there, the oldest Mary dying in infancy. In 1849 George Bower and family moved to Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, Indiana where they remained.

OBITUARIES:

MARGARET ALLABAUGH- was born in Rockingham county, Va., Feb. 16, 1822. Feb. 13, 1845, she was married to Geo. Bower who preceded her to the better world in 1888. she died Nov. 26, 1893, aged 71 years, 9 months, and 10 days.

She and her husband emigrated to Whitley county in an early day, thus one by one the old pioneers have gone until only a few are left. She was a good and kind mother, a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed, not only by her dear children but by the community in which she lived so long. The funeral services were held at Beach Chapel, the undersigned officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery.

But we hope again to meet thee
When the day of life is fled.
Then in heaven with joy to greet you,
Where no farewell tear is shed.

She was the mother of ten children, six of whom survive her, namely: William, Jacob, Elmer, Samuel, Edith S., and Anna. She also leaves two sisters, Grandma Swayze and Mrs. H. Cobaugh, of Columbia City, one brother, S. D. Alabaugh, of Perry county, Ohio.

Mrs. Geo. Bower Dead

The news of the death of Mrs. Geo. Bower, of Thorncreek township, which reached this city Monday morning, was a surprise to all, as it was not even known to many of our citizens that she was sick. Her illness was very brief and her death unexpected. She passed away at 12 o'clock Sunday night.

Mrs. Bower was one of the early settlers of the above township, and with her husband, who preceeded her to the grave a few years, saw much of the hardships of pioneer life. She was the mother of nine children, three of whom are dead. The deceased was a highly esteemed by her neighbors and acquaintances and her death is deeply felt by all.

The funeral took place this forenoon from Beech Chapel and the remains were laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery in this city.
