Willard Lee McCutchan (sic), the son of Johnnie B. McCutcheon and Mae (Jensen) McCutcheon, was born on June 29, 1930 on a farm near Hardy, NE. He passed away on August 2, 2003 at Bryan Memorial East, Lincoln, NE at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 4 days.
He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on August 24, 1930 and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hardy, NE. Born and raised on the family farm he attended school in the Hardy area.
Willard married Glennis Ehlers on March 5, 1952. They made their home on the family farm for 51 years. To this union was born 5 children.
He entered the armed services on December 2, 1952 and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1954.
Willard was a member of the Hardy Fire Department for many years, the Danish Brotherhood Lodge #161, Ruskin, NE and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hardy, NE.
He took great pride in his farming. Willard was the greatest husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that anyone could ever ask for. He never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter Patricia McCutcheon.
He is survived by his wife Glennis of Hardy, NE and four children, daughters, Yvonnda Sousa and husband Rich of Papillion, NE; Marlene Matthews and husband Ray of Belleville, KS; sons Johnny McCutcheon and Brian McCutcheon and wife Lynette all of Hardy, NE; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Gladys Shroyer and husband Don of Superior, NE; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 2:00 PM from the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy, NE with Pastor Daryl Nelson and Parish Ministry Associate Connie Raess officiating. Music was "One Day At A Time" solo by Carol Shambaugh and taped music "Two Sparrows In A Hurricane", congregational hymn "How Great Thou Art" with Ernestine Hoyer as organist.
Pallbearers were Joshua Kelley, Seth Kelley, Jacob Kelley, Timothy Druba, Kai Kastrup, Tim Roberts and Mac McCutcheon. Honorary Pallbearers were Melissa Roberts, Tiffany Druba, Shekinah Kastrup, Cassie McCutcheon, Brianna McCutcheon, Keidra Matthews and Danyelle Matthews.
Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, NE with full military rites by the American Legion Post 179.
Memorials in care of the family.
