Mary Elizabeth (Bettie) was the daughter of John and Martha Frances Baird Braswell. She married James William (Willie) McGee 08 Dec, 1894 in Smith Co., TN.. They had two children: Uless Estes & Mattie Lou McGee.

Mrs. Bettie McGee claimed by death. Mrs. Bettie Brazzell McGee, 63, died at her home near Mt. Ararat in the 10th District, Monday after several days illness. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are her husband, J. W. McGee, one son, U. E. McGee, one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Lou Snow, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Ararat Church by Rev. E. T. Brazzell. Burial in Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Cannon Courier, Woodbury, Tn., 24 Jan 1939
