Stephen A. Mattox

Stephen A. Mattox, 79, Crescent, Ia., died Friday afternoon at a local hospital, where he had been confined for six weeks. A retired blacksmith and farmer, Mr. Mattox had lived nearly seventy years in this county.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Araline Mattox of Crescent, two sons, Jesse and Meldred Mattox of Council Bluffs and Verne Mattox of Portland, Ore., two daughters, Mrs. Lucinda Hively of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Nettie Jones of Kearney, Neb., two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Shepard of Omaha and Mrs. Susan Dowell of McAllen, Tex., ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The body is at Woodring's funeral home. Burial will be in the Branson cemetery at Loveland, Sunday.
