Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Doris R. McBride, 72, who passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 15, 1988 at her home in Duncan, were conducted Wed., Aug. 17, in the Duncan Cemetery with counselor Tom Dixon officiating.
The musical selections, "How Great Thou Art" and "Peace In The Valley", were sung by soloist Tom Dixon with accompanist Jeanna Mosley. Wally Foote offered the invocation with Bill Packer presenting the life story. Willow Packer pronounced the remarks and dedicatory prayer.
Interment followed. Serving as casket bearers were Danny Nations, Ben Nations, Harold McGrath, John Nations, Bill Packer and Wally Foote.
Honorary bearers were Henry Gondolfo, Lester McBride, Jay Packer, Willow Packer, Jimmy King and Warner Foote.
Mrs. McBride was born in Franklin, on Sept. 21, 1915, she was the youngest child in a family of 7 children. She was the daughter of William Claudius Packer and Agatha Matilda Tippets. She began her schooling in Franklin. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1933.
She moved to Phoenix in 1950 where she worked for the Arizona Highway Department in the Motor Vehicle Division from 1950 until 1953. She had lived in Deming, N.M. where she worked as an agent in the Greyhound Bus Depot from 1969 until her retirement 1977.
Mrs. McBride returned to Duncan where she resided the reminder of her life. She loved music and played the piano and violin by ear and also read music.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her daughter, Claudette Nations, of Mimbers, N.M.; a sister, Chloie Gondolfo; brother, Willow Packer, both of Duncan; 2 grandsons, Danny and John, 4 great-grandsons.
Complete arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Home of Safford.
