Campbell Funeral.
Funeral services for Lewis W. J. Campbell, 79, justice of the peace and treasurer of Petrolia Borough, who died suddenly of a stroke at 8:45 a.m. yesterday in his Petrolia home will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Hepler Funeral Home, Petrolia. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery. Mr. Campbell was justice of the peace and notary public of Petrolia for many years and was treasurer of the borough for 5 years, since March 3, 1903. He was formerly proprietor for 45 years, of the Asa J. S. Campbell Estate Meat Market in Petrolia, founded by his father. Active in civic and church affairs, he was formerly president of the Petrolia School Board for many years. A member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church, he was elected an elder of the church May 27, 1927, and served in that capacity until 1952. He taught a Sunday School class for 15 years. Born June 9, 1879, in Parker Township, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Asa J. S. and Nellie Gilmore Campbell. He was a member of Karns City IOOF Lodge 931 for the past 58 years. He was a life member of Argyl Lodge, 540 F and AM, of Chicora, for the past 55 years; a member of Butler Royal Arch Chapter 273; Lorrain Commandery 87, Knights Templar; Ancient Accepted Order of Scottish Rite New Castle; and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh; and the Modern Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ella Fritz Campbell; two daughters, Mrs. Jennings H. Jones of University Park and Mrs. D. W. Kelly of Bruin; two sons, Edwin L. Campbell of Garland, Tex., and Robert W. Campbell at home; three sisters, Mrs. Lyda Hilliard of Petrolia, Mrs. E. A. Longwell of Bruin, and Mary Campbell of Parker R.D. 1; a brother, Knox Campbell of Parker R.D. 1, five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
CAMPBELL--Friends of Lewis W. J. Campbell of Petrolia, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 1958, will be received at the Helpler Funeral Home, Petrolia, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the funeral hime, with the Rev. Cecil Rhodes, pastor of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery. Arrangement by Hepler.

Lewis W. J. Campbell was married first to Flora Longwell who died February 19, 1920. They had these children: Gertude B. (1912-2000) (married Kelly); Edwin Lewis (1913-1996); Katharine born about 1916; Robert William born about 1919. Lew married second to Ella Mae Fritz, daughter of Francis Marion "Frank" Fritz and Susanna (Susan A.) Barrickman. His wife Ella never had any children and raised her step-children as her own.
