The Register-News, Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co., IL, Mon. 30 June 1958:
HARLEY BRITTON DIES AT BENTON; RITES TOMORROW
Harley BRITTON, 67, died suddenly at his home, 908 north McLeansboro
avenue in Benton at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the North Benton Baptist church at 2
p.m. tomorrow, with Rev. Carl WHITTINGTON and Rev. Harvey KIMMELL
officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and I.O.O.F. cemetery in
Benton.
The body will lie in state at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Benton,
where friends may call at any time.
Mr. BRITTON was a lifetime resident of Franklin county and he was a
retired coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Blanche (SWEET) BRITTON of Benton;
two sons, Raymond BRITTON of Chicago, Erwin F. BRITTON of Evansville,
Ind.; a step-son, Clarence LYDAY of St. Lous; (sic) a step-daughter,
Mrs. Ruby McFADDEN of Benton; three brothers, Tom BRITTON of Ewing,
Marvin BRITTON and Carol BRITTON of Benton; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie
WYATT of RFD Benton, and Mrs. Nannie COOK of Lafayette, Ind.
Two sisters, Mrs. Evan SMITH of Belle Rive, and Mrs. Lula TAYLOR of
Benton were recently deceased.
