Funeral services were conducted for Candace Nathonia Gully Landrith, 86, at the Peterson Chapel Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. F. J. McConnelee, with internment in the Ontario Cemetery. She died at the home of her son-in-law and of a new Mercury-powered speed daughter Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tennant, of Ontario, after a lingering illness. She was born in Boonville, Indiana, January 27, 1859. Her mother passed away when she was 17, and then she moved with her father and family in a covered wagon to Butler County, Kansas. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to John Drake. They homesteaded in Oklahoma, where she raised six children, two of whom, Miss Mabel Drake and Mrs.Leveta Geist, preceded her in death. Mr. Drake died in 1927. In later years she was married to John Calvin Landrith, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, R.W. Drake of Bucklin Kansas. Mrs. Josie Alma Tennant of Ontario, Mrs. Lena Lingo of Canon City, Colorado, and Eddie Drake of Johnson, Kansas; three brothers; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as more distance relatives.
