The sudden death of Mrs. George Harris, last Thursday, at the St. Mary's Hospital at Pierre, where she had just undergone a second operation for mastoid trouble has brought sorrow, not only to the immediate family, but to the entire community.
Mabel Ruth Simcox was born, March 24, 1904, at Ferguson, Iowa. She died at St. Mary's Hospital, Pierre, S.D., Feb. 16, 1928. She was united in marriage to George Harris on Nov. 18, 1920, and made her home at Draper since a couple of years before her marriage. Ruth was an untiring worker in her home, a faithful wife and mother, and a friend to everyone she knew.
Deceased leaves to mourn her untimely death: her husband; three children, Marie, aged seven, Gail, aged five, Donald, aged four; a mother, Mrs. Mary Simcox; two sisters, Electa Aakins, of Interior S.D., and Maude Ragans, of Vienna, Mo.; four brothers, Henry Simcox, of Pierre, Robert, of Hot Springs, Roy, of Rapid City, and Archie, of Interior.
The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. C. A. Bates, local pastor, Sunday afternoon. The Geesey Funeral Director Co. brought the body down from Pierre and had charge of the burial. The capacity of the church proved to be far too small to accommodate the crowd of friends who came out to pay their last respects. Many very beautiful floral offerings were brought.
To the family and relatives, the community extends its deep sympathy. Out of town friends and relatives in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Adkins, Interior, S.D., Archie Simcox, Interior, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simcox, Pierre; Mrs. Chas. Huebner, Pierre; Mrs. Richard (Martha) Gould (mother-in-law of Archie Simcox), Pierre; Mrs. O. B. Jones (Ruby), Worthing, S.D.; Mrs. Townsend (Hazel), Mankato, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harris; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Menzie and Mrs. Roy Winchell (Addie) from Mission.
