JOHN Y. PROFFITT
John Young Proffitt, 72, RFD 5 (near Long Lake), died in an area hospital at 12:57 a. m. today. He had lived 41 years in the Valparaiso vicinity.

Born Aug. 3, 1881, in Jonesburg, Mo., he was the son of John and Fan (Skinner) Proffitt. He married Nora Belle Schellinger on July 12, 1910. She died June 8, 1949, and two sons and a daughter also preceded him in death.

Surviving are six sons, John of Chicago, Elmer of Gary, Arthur, Harlan and Robert of Valparaiso, and Walter of Chesterton; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Highlan and Mrs. Bertha Irwin of Valparaiso, 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday in LePell Funeral home, where friends may call from 7 p. m. Saturday until services. Burial will be in Kimball cemetery, Liberty township.
