DEATH NOTICE: Atchison Daily Champion - Thursday, January 8, 1885, page 4
Helen Bierer, the two year old daughter of Samuel Bierer, of Hiawatha, and grand daughter of our esteemed old friend Hon. E. Bierer, of the same place, ate of some concentrated lye which she found on the kitchen floor Tuesday. The child of course was taken ill at once, and the effect of the lye threw her into agony of pain. She lingered in this condition until yesterday morning when she died.
