Nannie attended Eagle Rock school and joined Malabys Crossroads Baptist Church at an early age.
On April 3, 1940, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Howard Perry. To this union, nine children were born. Her husband Howard and son Howard Jr., preceded her in death.
Nannie was honest in her relationship with her family and friends, always ready to help someone who needed her. She took great pride in her family and was always known to her children and grandchildren as a strong disciplinarian. We always remember her taking five grandchildren shopping with her at one time, and they all knew how to behave with grandma. She was a very diligent worker and didn't mind doing whatever it took to make a honest living. Her children and other family members always teased her about one saying that she said "Jest Go". It was noted that although she had nine children, when her husband Howard said, "I'm going" etc., Nannie would say, "I'm Ready".
She was a faithful member of Malabys Crossroads Baptist Church and although illness plagued her body in recent months, her desire was still to get back to "her church"' Malabys. She enjoyed "her church".
She leaves to cherish her memories: eight children: Doris Battle (Billy), Lawrence Perry (Edna) all of Raleigh, NC, Cassie Dula, of Hackensack, NJ, Joyce Allen (John), of Raleigh, NC, Mageline Horton (Moses) of Wendell, NC, Judy Perry, Raleigh, NC, Emma Privette, Gulfport, MS and Eddie Perry, Atlanta, GA; one sister, Catherine Boykin, Raleigh, NC; twenty-six grandchildren; forty two great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, other relatives and friends.
