He was born in Santa Ana, California on July 30, 1929 to Conrad Rubio and Maclovia Zamora and raised in Mexicali, Baja California. He had 4 siblings Jose, Josephine, Julia, and Pablo; his extended family of Jesus, Eleuterio, Paco, and Guadalupe Arroyo.
He returned to California at 15 years-old and in 1952 served in the US Army during the Korean War. He then met and married Teresa Rubio in 1955 and had 3 children Barbara, Donna and Dolores. He had an extended family of Anna, Robert, David and Kathy.
He made a living as a truck driver and was presented multiple safe driving awards during his career and then retired in 1993.
Some of his favorite past times was to bar-b-que for his family which included his famous "fresh homemade salsa" which will be shared for many generations to come. Around the holidays, he was always known for making "pozole" which everyone looked forward to each year. And lastly, he loved to play domino's and computer solitaire.
Our mother's fondest memories are the times he would take the girls on an outing, like when we would go to the mountains and the girls would start screaming if he got too close to the edge of the road. Abdon was always cracking his corny jokes and "corny they were". He liked to make everyone laugh, he was very giving and loved his girls, they always came first in his life. He also liked to cook for his family, like chile colorado when they came to visit, and that was Abdon, always trying to please, and please he did, he was a good man…..I loved him very much.
If we had to summarize his life, it would be that he found his happiness in pleasing others through his cooking, jokes and laughter. His passion was his family.
He leaves behind 5 children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grand children and 4 great-great grandchildren…oohh, let‘s not forget "Chachee" aka "Stilts" the dog.
His family and friends will miss him greatly and he will always be loved and remembered affectionately.

Especially,
Your Loving Wife, "Slim"
And Adoring Daughters, Babsy Doll, Piets and Little Girl. . .We love you Daddy.
