Additional information also listed below provided by Carol Hamilton of Santa Barbara, CA. Birth and death dates - cause of death - marriage information. Sources: US Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles; Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors and Marines in the Civil War National Archives; Index to Federal Pension Records; American Civil War Soldiers. (Enlistment dates given are Sept. 12, 1861 AND Dec. 9, 1861) Served in the Union Army.

He was born in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He married Agnes Allen of Connecticut. Marriage date may be about 1854 (not proven). They had three children for sure, and possibly a fourth named Jennie born about 1861, but it is not proven that she was their daughter. It is very questionable, but she had the surname Baker, so she was likely related in some way. Charles Baker was also a great-great-grandfather. His wife, Agnes Allen was born about 1819 in Somersville, Tolland Co, Connecticut. She was about 8 years older than her husband.
