Died, at 7:30 o'clock Sunday evening, April 16, 1911, at her residence, 1018 South Thirteenth street, after an illness of three weeks with a complication of diseases, Mrs. Sarah Ellen Crowl, aged 78 years. Mrs. Crowl was born at Louisville, Ky., June 1, 1833. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Taggart and at the age of twelve years accompanied her parents to Illinois, settling near Decatur.
She was united in marriage with Upton Crowl, Sept. 7, 1850, the couple settling on a farm near Berry station where they resided until Mr. Crowl's death March 8, 1872. A year later, Mrs. Crowl removed to Springfield and had since been a resident of this city.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary J. Slenker of this city; three brothers, John, William and Henry Taggart, all of Decatur; two grandsons, Frank Renshaw of Chicago and a grandson residing at Berry, and four great-grandchildren.
