Mrs. Minnie Billock, Area Pioneer, Dies
Mrs. Frank Billock, a resident of Grand Rapids for the past 37 years, passed away at the Itasca county hospital Sunday morning following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic church, with interment in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Billock was born in Stetsonville, Wis., sixty-three years ago. She came with her family to Grand Rapids in 1912. She was a member of the St. Agnes circle of the Altar Society of St. Joseph's Catholic church. Her husband Frank, preceded her in death in 1941. Those left to mourn her passing are three sons, Clarence and Louis of Grand Rapids and Francis of La Crosse, Wis.; five daughters, Mrs. Roy Robison, Mrs. Allen Pinette, Mrs. Archie Richardson and Mrs. Howard Demarais of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Al Gown of Stockton, Calif. --pub by Herald Review, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, 06 January 1949, Thursday.
Wilhelmina was baptized Auguste Wilhelmina Minnie Schrapel on 29 Nov. 1885 by Rev. B Ungrodt, pastor of Lutheran Church at Stetsonville.
Frank Billock married Wilhelmina Schrapel whose parents rented a farm in the community of Little Black where the Billock family farmed.
Wilhelmina parents were German emigrants from Saxony over the Rhine, coming to the U.S. in 1883 with one son. Besides Wilhelmina, they had a daughter Anna also born in Stetsonville.
