OBITUARY:
Florence Jane Sunley was born July 6, 1858 at Logan, Vinton County, Ohio, and died at her home in Ransom on May 4, 1936.
In 1868 she, with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Henry Tibbetts Leighton, a brother and a younger sister, moved to Marshall, Missouri. In 1874 they came to McPherson County, Kansas, and located on a farm near Roxbury. While there she taught one term of school. Later she was married to Frank Hopper, who died in 1881. To this union was born one daugher, Edna Vivian, now Mrs. James Edward Combest of Ransom.
In 1888 she with her daughter and her parents moved to Ness County where her father homesteaded near McCracken. On Oct. 3, 1895, she was united in marriage to John H. Sunley. They lived on the Leighton farm about one year, then moved to the Cyrus neighborhood where Mr. Sunley was engaged in teaching. In the spring of 1899 they moved to Ransom where they have resided since.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Combest, and a sister, Mrs. M. L. Haag of Ness City. Interment in Ransom cemetery. — The Ness County News, Ness County, Kansas
