Married Otis Bardwell 25 Mar 1829
J M Crafts in his "History of Whately 1661-1899" gives conflicting information. On page 358 (Allis, #14 Daniel), he has Fanny Swift marrying Daniel in 1810 and Daniel dying in 1818. On page 376 (Bardwell, #29 Cotton), he has Cotton marrying the widow Fanny (Swift) Allis in 1811 and their having 3 daughters: Maria, Fidelia and Lauretta. There is no mention of Cotton having a first wife, Martha.
Fanny cannot both be and not be a widow in 1811. I believe that she married Cotton after 1818, possibly in 1821 (1811 being a typographical error). Although the girls listed their parents as Cotton and Fanny at their marriages, I believe their mother is Martha.
J H Temple's 1872 "Whately, Massachusetts" sheds no light on the matter.
Thank you to Member #48042002 for bringing the discrepancy in the daughters' mother to my attention.
