Wayne E. Anderson, 85, of Callaway, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with the Rev. Jerry Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Survivors include wife, Pearl of Callaway; one son, Terry (Reita) Anderson of Elm Creek; two daughters: Joyce (Ronnie) Zoerb of Littleton, Colo., Karen (Richard) Lopez of Kearney; two sisters, Mary (Adrian "Herb") Szwanek of North Platte and Carrie (Bert) Callahan of Brady; six grandchildren, Michael Zoerb, Robbi Anderson Gould, Trina Anderson Miller, Travis Anderson, Meesha Lopez and
Christopher Lopez and five great-grandchildren, Christina Miller, Hunter Miller, Margaret Gould, Charles Gould and Emerlie Zoerb.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Dale and Bob; one sister, Betty Gift and one grandson, Marty Zoerb.
He was born May 13, 1923, at rural Arnold to Gunner and Inez (Henry) Anderson.
Wayne attended country school around the Arnold area. He was united in marriage to Pearl Sundquist on July 10, 1944, at Oberlin, Kan. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Joyce, Terry and Karen.
Following the couple's marriage they lived in the Arnold area before moving to the Brady area, returning to Custer County in the late 1940s, where they farmed and ranched and in 1964, moved to Callaway. The couple built their own home and enjoyed raising their family in Callaway.
Wayne started running his maintainer in 1964, this was a great source of enjoyment for him. He was not only able to make his living, but also able to meet wonderful people and be out in nature, two of his greatest loves. The couple were Amway distributors for many years and members of the United Methodist Church in Callaway. Wayne was also a member of the Elk's Lodge in Broken Bow.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing cards, fishing, camping and visiting with people.
