Joseph Esch, one of Indiana County's oldest citizens, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Jacob Overdorff, of Brush Valley Township, on Saturday evening, 28 May. Mr. Esch was born in the eastern part of the state over 90 years ago, and for the past 70 [should be 60] years has been a resident of Indiana County. He was a good man and highly esteemed by all who knew him. His wife died six years ago. He was the father of 11 children, six of whom are living: Rev John Esch, of Dempseytown; Adam, of Cambria County; Joseph, who resides in Ohio; William, of Westmoreland County; Mrs. M. A. Overdorff, of Blairsville; and Mrs Jacob Overdorff, of Brush valley. The funeral services were held in the Bethel Church on Monday morning, May 30, at 10:00, by Rev. D. R. Miller. Mr Esch was a member of the above mentioned church for about 50 years.
