Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Jacob H. and Colie Steele Arnold. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member and a Deacon at Lexington Baptist Church, Past Master of Lexington Masonic Lodge #152, Past Commander of Lexington American Legion Post #7 and Past Worthy Patron of Lexington Eastern Star Chapter #176.

Surviving are his wife, daughter, son, sisters, brother, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, J.H. Arnold of Columbia and sister, Mrs. John (Vermelle) Eargle of Lancaster.
