Roy Avant, 61, of Colfax, died Tuesday, January 8, in a Baton Rouge hospital.

Services were held at the Hebron Baptist Church in Colfax with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, of Colfax; two sons, Wayne Avant of Colfax and Oliver Avant of Ft. Lewis, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Peters of Alexandria and Mrs. Caroline Brown of Pineville; four brothers, Clarence Avant and Nathan Avant, both of Atlanta, La., Otis Avant of Minden, and J. P. Avant of Winnfield; five sisters, Mrs. Johnny Shows of Pineville, Mrs. Addie Brady of Atlanta, Mrs. Lottie Owens of Minden, Mrs. Iva Lee of Brownsville, Texas, and Mrs. Helen Haynes of Little Rock, Ark.
