Mary Ann (Ranck) Lane, wife of Scott Lane, died at her home in Clay Twp at 9:25PM on Sunday, Feb 7, 1943, after an illness of nearly nine months. The daughter of John and Mary (Brinley) Ranck, she was born in Clay Twp on Sep 6, 1858, hence was aged at time of death, 84y, 5m, and 1d. On Apr 23, 1882, Mary Ann Ranck was united in marriage to Scott Lane who was a coal miner and farmer. The Lanes lived their entire life on the farm near Three Springs where Mr. Lane was born. Survivors include her husband, Scott Lane, and the following children: Olive, wife of Joshua B. Roher; Abram Lane; Nevada, wife of the late Edward Beckwith; and Otis Lane, all of Three Springs; Franklin Lane, Harrisburg; Clarence Lane; East Sparta, OH; Elsie, wife of Robert McMinn, Alliance, OH; Ellis Lane, Mankato, MN; Clinton S. Lane, Cedar Rapids, IA; Jay R. Lane, Pittsburgh, PA; also 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded her in death as did seven grandchildren. The deceased daughters were Lillian, wife of George Cutshall; and Eunice, wife of Charles Shore. Also surviving are a brother, George Ranck, CA, and a sister, Mrs. Loretta Lightner, Saltillo, PA. Mrs. Lane was a member of the Church of God. Services were held Thursday, Feb 11, at 10AM at Old Baptist School Church Cemetery, the Rev. Joseph Miller officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery adjacent to the church.
