Walter Bratcher, of Harper, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, at the age of 68. Walter is survived by his wife Deloris Bratcher of Harper, 3 sons, Josh Bratcher and wife Elvira, Quint Bratcher and wife Raynette, Heath Bratcher and wife Lisa all of Harper and a daughter Lalonna Owens-Bratcher and husband Shannon Owens of Kerrville. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Aaron Bratcher, Tanya Starks, Kelsey Bratcher, Kristin Cave, Colt Bratcher, Ta-Marya Owens, Korben Owens, 2 sisters, LaWan Vermilion of Colorado City and Wanda Durham of Midland and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was a long-time resident of Harper where he farmed and ranched and was also in the construction business. For the last 9 years he and Deloris have owned and operated Waldo's convenience store and gas station in Harper. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea and during the Berlin Crisis. Walter was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed work and loved to fish. While he was not one to join organizations, he and Deloris have helped support many organizations in Harper.
Funeral services for Walter Bratcher will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Beckmann Funeral Home Chapel with rev. Mike Weaver officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Harper Community Cemetery.
Memorials in honor of Walter may be made to Wild Ride Ministries in Harper, the Harper Volunteer Fire Department and EMS or to the charity of one's choice.
