He was born September 22, 1917 in Van Zandt County to the late Roy B. and Martha L. Reynolds Barber. He was a member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for more than 50 years and was song leader for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Edgewood. In 1939 he began his farming career.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Barber, Edgewood; sons and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Jo Ann Barber, Edgewood, and Claud Barber, California; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Richard Stewart; sister, Nadine McFaddin, Edgewood; ten grand-children; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included David Barber, Alan Stewart, Steve Mayo, Michael Stewart, Randy Jones and Phil Castles.
