A BIOGRAPHY OF CORINNA RUTH SMITH SHRIVER, by Laurence Overmire (great nephew), Oct. 2012:

Corinna Ruth Smith was born in Ashtabula Co., Ohio, on Dec. 29, 1891. She was the daughter of Charles R. Smith and Anna Ufford. Her father was the Chairman of the Board of Education of the Kingsville Public Schools.

Ruth was a Registered Nurse having graduated from one of the earliest classes at Ashtabula General Hospital. Her R.N. number was only four digits long, an indication of just how early she was.

On Jun. 21, 1917, she married Raymond Scott Shriver, the son of Albert Norton and Mary Belle (Burns) Shriver. They had two children: Barbara Ruth and Philip Raymond.

For a while, the Shrivers lived on 13405 Thornhurst Drive in Garfield Heights, just a short distance from Ray's little sister Anna Mary and her husband Irl Fast. Irl noted in his memoirs, "Ray and mother (Anna Mary) were always pretty close ever since he was her big brother and she was his kid sister."

After retirement, Ray and Ruth moved to Tampa, Florida, where their daughter Barbara was living.

Ruth passed away at the age of 92 in March 1984 in Tampa. She was buried in the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida.
