LEEDS -- Russell K. Buckley, age 81, a lifelong resident and dairy farmer of Route 106 in Leeds, died Monday, December 20, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born in Leeds on April 25, 1918, the son of Guy G. and Gladys Canwell Buckley. He was a 1935 graduate of Leavitt High School and attended Bliss Business College in Lewiston.

Russell worked every day, side by side, with his brother, Gilbert on the dairy farm and also worked for the town of Leeds for 25 years as tax collector. He was a deacon for Leeds Community Church and a member of the Leeds Volunteer Fire Department, the Main Dairy Association, and the Grange, Pomona and State.

He is survived by three daughters, Gailene Buckley of Livermore Falls, Joline and her husband, Francis Andre of Leeds and Doreen Buckley and her fiancee, Larry of Leeds; a son, Miles Buckley of Colorado; two step-sons, Scott Hartford and his wife, April of Jay, Anthony Hartford of Westbrook; two step-daughters and their husbands, Nichola & George Morin of Brunswick and Michelle Hartford and her husband Sean Scovil, of Bangor; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Buckley of Leeds; two brothers, Gilbert of Leeds and Raymond of Lansing, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Melissa Murphy, Ronald Turcotte, and Jason and Dan Buckley; step-grandchildren, Zakkary, Nicholas and Jacob Morin and Benjamin, Alexander, Abby and Emily Hartford; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Shane Murphy and Ashley and Lillie Andre.
