Son of George Daniel and Mary (Grove) Basehoar; married Ruhamah Bittinger.

Samuel Basehoar was born in Hanover, the son of George & Mary Groff Baseshour, and married Ruhamah E. Bittenger on December 16, 1869. In 1860, he was a laborer living in Union Township, Adams County, that according to the 1862 draft list.


A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, and assignecd to Co. E, 166th Pa Inf and elected corporal. Honorably discharged July 28, 1863. (From Dennis Brandt)
