Mrs. Raymond E Wagner, 54, of Rural Route 3 died suddenly at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon as she entered the Newton Masonic Temple. Death was due to a heart ailment. Mrs. Wagner, a member of the Live Wire Class of the First Christian church, was taking food to the Temple where the class was preparing to serve a Masonic banquet in the evening. She was stricken as she stepped into the building and fell.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Christian church, with Rev. Inez D. Galbreath, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, with the Reese service in charge.

Mrs. Wagner, as Ethel Alta Wakefield, was born Aug. 3, 1899, in Jasper county, a daughter of Frank and Margaret (Alcorn) Wakefield. She was married to Mr. Wagner Sept. 22, 1921, and had lived at the present farm home for many years.

Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Evon Marie) Stapp of Olney and Mrs. Rex (Margaret Louise) McClane of Newton; five sons, Raymond W, Eugene O, and John Dale Wagner of Newton and Melvin Merle and Gerald Ray Wagner at home; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Wakefield of New Richland, Minn; two brothers, Merle Wakefield of Hartland, Minn, and Ray Wakefield of New Richland, Minn; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Tussler of Hackensack, Minn, and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Wagner was a member of the First Christian church.
