Mr. Crumley was born January 26, 1915 in Heflin, Alabama to W. Jesse and Josie (McElroy) Crumley. He and his family have been Auburndale residents since 1938, coming from Tifton, Ga. C.C. was a retired maintenance Trouble Shooter for Continental Can Company. A United States Army veteran. He attended Inwood Church of God, past member of the American Legion, life member of the American Defenders of Bataan Corregidor, served during World War II, survivor of the Bataan Death March and a POW in Japan for 3 1/2 years on the Philippines Islands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. C.C. is survived by his loving and devoted family: wife of 61 years Merle Register Crumley of Auburndale, FL.; 2 sons Denny (Nelly) Crumley of Polk City, FL., Randall (Ann) Crumley of Polk City, FL.; 3 brothers Leonard (Mary) Crumley of Auburndale, FL., L.A. (Connie) Crumley of Lake Alfred, FL., B.S. (Bonnie) Crumley of Jacksonville, FL.; 5 grandchildren Shane, Scott, Shawn, Joshua and April; 7 great grandchildren: Jordan, Lindsey, Cameryn, Alyssa, Kailyn, Dakota, and Noah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in C.C. Crumley's name to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, Florida, 33823. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Kersey Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Eagle Lake. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Kersey Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale, 967-1167.
