Former Mantian Is Buried Here. Marion A. Cox was born in Manti October 10, 1860, the son of F. W. and Lucy Allen Cox. When a young man and at the time Emery County was being settled he went with his brother Fred to help pioneer that county.

They settled in Ferron. A few years later he returned to Manti on a visit and married Elizabeth DeMille, they returned and together built a good home where two boys and five girls were born. They subdued the desert and made it blossom with fruits and flowers for 25 years.

As the children began to pass the district school he thought it best to go to Provo where he has lived for the past eleven years.

On November 7th he left his home to help repair the road near Spanish Fork. A congestion of cars with a large threshing machine occurred where they were working and he kept stepping back until he was off the cement when a large truck and a touring car driven by A.J. Agard of Ft. Green were going the same way and in dodging the truck he was run down by the touring car.

As soon as the accident happened Mr. Agard stopped his car and took Mr. Cox in to Spanish Fork where he was given first aid treatment. He was taken to Provo Hospital November 8th where he gradually grew worse until death came November 10th.

He is survived by his wife, one son Marion Alonzo. Ruth and Ileen Cox of Provo; Mrs. Leona Erickson and Grace Stokes of Cleveland, Mrs. Lucy Gleaves of Annabell, his aged mother and six brothers and six sisters.

Services were held in Provo at 12:30 Sunday. Many tributes of his stalwart character were spoken, tender songs sung and many beautiful floral offerings sent after which the body was taken back to the undertaker's parlor until Monday when it was shipped to Manti.

Funeral services were held here in the North Ward Chapel November 15th. Opening song, "Rock of Ages." Prayer, James Olsen, song "Oh My Father." Short talks were given by the following: Francis M. Cox, President Ezra Shoemaker, Aaron D. Squire, C.P. Larson, William McFarlane, Andrew Peterson, Louie H. Hougaard, John R. Nielson Jr. and closing remarks by Bishop N.R. Peterson.

Song by Reva Olsen, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Closing song, "I Need Thee Every Hour," by choir. Benediction G.B. Cox. The grave was dedicated by Olias Cox.
