Emma Virginia (Gray) Snyder Troup - the Indiana, Pa, Gazette, Monday, December 1, 1980

Mrs. Emma Virginia Troup, 82, of Dayton, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1980, in West Haven Nursing Home, Apollo. A daughter of John S. and Alice Rymer Gray, she was born Aug. 24, 1898, in Porter Township, Jefferson County. Mrs. Troup was a member of the Sagamore Wesleyan Methodist Church. She had resided in the Dayton area all her life.

Surviving are her second husband, Alvie Myron Troup, whom she married June 9, 1967; two sons: Paul W. Snyder, Punxsutawney RD 1, and John Snyder Jr., Conneaut, Ohio; three daughters: Mrs. Beatrice Minich, Penns View; Mrs. Carl (Jean) Mclntyre, Kittanning RD 6; Mrs. Merle (Ellen) Mclntyre, Dayton RD 2; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

Also surviving are four stepsons: Herbert F. Troup, Mercer RD 7; Donald L. Troup, Butler; M. Paul Troup, West Sunbury RD 1: Gary H. Troup, Northeast; four stepdaughters: Mrs. Howard (Catherine) Arble, Yatesboro; Mrs. Dan E. (Thelma) Keeling, Worthington; Mrs. Louis (Velma) Miller, Worthington RD 1; Mrs. Paul (Pearl) Kaufman, Hagerstown, Md.; 29 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren: two brothers: John Gray, Rochester, and Wayne Gray, Dayton; and three sisters: Mrs. Pearl West, Apollo: Mrs. Tessie Butler, Kittanning; and Mrs. Frank (Frances) Brumbaugh, Kittanning RD5.

She was preceded in death on May 27, 1964 by her first husband, John Wesley Snyder, whom she married on Jan. 16, 1917, and by two brothers and two sisters.

The body will lie in state from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. today (Monday) in the Sagamore Wesleyan Methodist Church. Services will be conducted in the church at 1:30 p.m. today with the Rev. Paul West and the Rev. W.H. Cornell officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Porter Township. The Frank 0. Ely Funeral Home, Dayton, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
