Graveside services honoring the life of Flora "Dean" DeHart, 76, will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Sunday before the service.
"Dean" was born February 9, 1931 in Marthaville, LA, to Elmer and Bessie Rains. She passed away October 26, 2007 after a sudden illness. She was a resident of Shreveport, where she was a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class and the V.I.P. Ministry and member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She was retired from Lucent Technologies
Preceding "Dean" in death are her parents; her husbands, James W. Bruce, Jr. and John DeHart; her brother, Donnie Rains, and her infant granddaughter, Amy.
Left to cherish her memory is son, Dr. James R. Bruce and wife Susie of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Anna, her husband Jeremy, Matthew and Megan; great-grandchildren, Madison and Austin; brothers, Sam Rains and wife Floye, George Rains and wife Bitsy, Benny Rains and wife Donna and Dannie Rains; sisters, Mary Varnell and husband Hubert, Lee Phillips and husband Dale; numerous nieces and nephews.
