"Dean" was born February 9, 1931 in Marthaville, LA, to Elmer and Bessie Rains. She passed away October 26, 2007 after a sudden illness. She was a resident of Shreveport, where she was a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class and the V.I.P. Ministry and member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She was retired from Lucent Technologies
Preceding "Dean" in death are her parents; her husbands, James W. Bruce, Jr. and John DeHart; her brother, Donnie Rains, and her infant granddaughter, Amy.
Left to cherish her memory is son, Dr. James R. Bruce and wife Susie of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Anna, her husband Jeremy, Matthew and Megan; great-grandchildren, Madison and Austin; brothers, Sam Rains and wife Floye, George Rains and wife Bitsy, Benny Rains and wife Donna and Dannie Rains; sisters, Mary Varnell and husband Hubert, Lee Phillips and husband Dale; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent to, Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211 and or the Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Mission, 901 McNeil, Shreveport, LA 71103.
